(Source: Federal Bureau of Investigation - Baltimore Field Office) BALTIMORE, MD-U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz sentenced Mervyn A. Phelan, Sr., age 74, of Newport Beach, California, today to five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for a wire fraud conspiracy, wire fraud and obstruction of justice from a $17.4 million investment fraud scheme. Judge Motz ordered Phelan to forfeit and pay restitution of $17,414,000. The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J.
